Pugs Photoshop Brushes

As I said on Twitter, these days I’ve been playing with Photoshop a little more than usual. I love making pug stuff so I was looking for some time now for pug brushes to use in my designs but no luck. So I’ve made some myself.

I’m sharing them with you guys but please go easy on me, it’s my first set of brushes. It’s a set of 18 brushes, made with Abobe Photoshop CS3. They have from 154px to 714px, it also contains some images of my pugs. Click on image for download.

Retro Christmas

Tired of your every year Christmas decorations? Step outside the box and give the ghost of Christmas past a chance to make your day. This year, try a retro Christmas Theme for you and your family. How to do that? Nothing can be easier. Decide first what meaning do you give to the word “retro”. Do you want to have a Christmas that reminds you of your past holiday by gathering last years presents, recordings, decorations and all that is vintage & retro and has to do with Christmas?

Or maybe you’d prefer a Christmas with the smell of new and the look of retro?

In the first case, it’s easy, you’ll know what to do. Let’s see about the second one.

You need decorations for your house, your tree, your Christmas dinner… and retro presents.

Step 1: Decide on the theme. Disco Colors, Romantic Vintage or many other… If you don’t know what to choose or just don’t know much about retro-vintage style just go online and do some research. You’ll find all you need.

Step 2: Inform all your family and guests about the theme so that they can dress and feel retro. And who know maybe they’ll have some ideas of their own. It’s always nice to involve your family and friends in the preparation of the perfect Christmas.

Step 3: Get rid of your green tree and replace it with an aluminum tree.

Step 4: Ornaments and lights. Doesn’t matter if you’ll go for one color decorations or not, just be sure that you have the things looking retro. You’ll need lots of big shinny ornaments. Light the tree using a rotating color wheel specifically designed for that purpose.

Step 5: Don’t forget the garland. Whether you prefer the look of fat tinsel garland, or the homemade appeal of popcorn or construction paper, every retro Christmas tree needs garland.

Step 6: If your retro theme allows it, you may even get out the old ribbons and Old World decor. Not for the disco look…

Step 7: The presents. Think about what your family members want for Christmas and try giving it a retro look. Remember, big and shinny. Big boxes, big ribbons. You may even go for the box in box in box in box thing.

Step 8: Don’t forget the drinks, the food and dinner arrangements. They’ll have to wear the retro tag as well.

How about a cocktail? Go retro this Christmas with this classic cocktail, the Snowball, which was popular in the 60s and 70s. Just mix avocado, lemonade and a dash of lime cordial, whisk and serve in a tall glass with a cherry on a cocktail stick. For a stronger drink try a shot of vodka for a Russian Snowball.

Ask your mom and grandma for some cookies recipe too.

Step 9: add whatever comes to mind, remember retro is everything but not perfection. Then, enjoy your holiday !

And remember one thing, it’s your Christmas and it’s about how you feel the retro style. If you think big plasma TV is retro, then go for it and hang it on your tree (actually, don’t do that…)

Twitter. Ups and downs.

I joined Twitter more than a year ago but I first starting using it a few months later… At first I thought “another social network, this should be good” but then I started to like it and hate it at the same time. Why? Well, it has his good and bad parts, like any other but the bad parts seem to increase as we enter in the Romanian Twitter network. I know it’s supposed to be a place were you can write the little things, but in my opinion, the little things to write on twitter stop at a point. Not in here they don’t.

Lets see what I like about it:

- for me, it’s easier to get an idea, reduce it to 140 characters and post it on twitter than to get an idea, make it bigger and post it on my blog

- it’s a fun world to be in sometimes, especially when our two little puggies start tweeting. Pug tweeting is the best !

- this year, for elections, I got the opportunity to see that people do care about Romanian politics; it’s nice seeing that I’m not the only one

… and what I hate:

- I’m sick and tired of people tweeting the weather. ” It’s snowing” yeah, I know, I have windows too, for your surprise. Try saying: it’s going to snow tomorrow… See the difference?

- when there is a talk show on TV please try not to tweet everything those guys say second after second. If I’m interested, I have my own TV. And ears too. If not, then I don’t really give a shit.

- Twitter fights. It’s really not my business to see people from my list fighting about stupid things for hours. As they say… get a room, a messenger id, something…

- stupid arguments about who’s following who. I don’t care about that either. and you shouldn’t tell me who to follow or judge me for that. My Twitter, my business

Oh and, one more thing. From now on I’m going to be blogging in English most of the time. I have little ways to express what I feel for Romania at this point and this is one of them.

Pug Revolution

Pugutii nostrii o pun de o revolutie. S-au gandit ca nu mai merge asa si vor sa fie ei stapanii. Asa ca au pus la cale, impreuna cu prietenii lor puguti de pe Twitter, o miscare prin care sa raspandeasca din pug in pug sfaturi despre cum sa iti dresezi stapanii. Ramane de vazut daca le si iese, sunt ei puguti dar nici noi nu suntem mai prejos. Sa vedem cine e mai incapatanat. Azi le-a mers, au prmit friptura la micul dejun. Ce nu stiu ei e ca nu mai primesc plimbare.

Parca totul e mai amuzant si mai frumos in lumea lor..asa ca ne vom refugia si noi acolo o perioada…

Summer moved on…

Pentru ca este septembrie.. pentru ca imi era dor.. si pentru ca am avut o portita de doua zile.. va scriu acest post de la bunici ( de fapt nu m-a tinut netul asa ca il public de acasa ). Nici nu am plecat bine din Bucuresti ca deja imi e foarte dor de Daisy si abia astept sa o revad… Nu am chef acum de scris, prefer sa ma bucur de aerul curat… si nici nu am multe de spus de la ultimul meu post, asa ca am sa va las cu cateva poze de pe aici.

A venit toamna… bucurati-va…

Ca la 23 de ani

A trecut si ziua mea… a fost frumos, putina agitatie din cauza unor probleme tehnice pe care le-am avut cu usa de la garsoniera, am primit multe cadouri si mai ales.. am vazut (inca o data) ca sunt iubita si ca am tot ce imi doresc. Stiu, nu avem casa noastra, n-am masina, n-am o afacere prospera (inca), dar la ce mi-ar folosi daca nu as avea ce am acum?

Imi aduc aminte ca acum un an scriam un post asemanator, insa pentru 22 de ani…

Contrar asteptarilor, nu ma simt nici mai batrana, nici mai inteleapta, mai trecuta prin viata, mai in masura de a le rade in nas celor mai mici decat mine sau mai experta in a da sfaturi cu greutate. Simt doar ca timpul trece din ce in ce mai repede..ca parca ieri alergam cu mama dupa coronite in clasele primare sau cu tata pe la buletine cand am facut 14 ani. Mi-e greu sa zic ca am 23 de ani, nu stiu cand au trecut, dar ma bucur ca la varsta asta sunt unde sunt. Se poate si mai bine, dar daca le-am avea pe toate de-odata, la ce am mai visa sau pentru ce ne-am mai lupta cu viata?

Aniversari

Luna asta am facut doi ani de blog. Nu mai stiu exact pe ce data si imi e lene sa ma uit inapoi… in doua ore imbranesc putin, iar relatia cu iubitul meu ajunge la un an… Se pare ca data de 13 septembrie mi-a adus multe lucruri minunate de-a lungul timpului… sunt curioasa ce-mi rezerva viitorul.. acum cativa ani 23 mi se parea atat de departe.. nu imi dau seama cat de repede a trecut timpul.

Anul asta mi-a adus multe lucruri noi.. casa noua.. fie ea si cu chirie, pe Daisy, firma.. o tunsoare noua.. si un inel. Ma asteapta o zi petrecuta cu familia si prietenii si de luni multa bataie de cap la serviciu.

D`ale carnavalului

Se apropie cu pasi repezi campania electorala, prilej pentru alesi nostri de a o lua razna cu o scuza. Si cum suntem campioni la masuri populiste luate pe ultima suta de metri in speranta voturilor in plus, iata ce se mai intampla zilele astea pe la noi.
- ministrul tineretului se foloseste de sigla si antetul PD-L-ului pentru a distribui ajutoare de la UE.
- conform unei noi hotarari de guvern, promisiunile electorale vor fi pedepsite prin lege; presupun ca asta e o mare bucurie in randul alegatorilor.. despre cum se va pune in practica.. nu conteaza, important e sa dea bine.
- presedintele are agenda tare incarcata: plange pe la dezveliri de busturi diferite de al Elenei Udrea, isi programeaza discursuri in parlament, mai arunca doua trei vorbe despre mineriade si revolutie… si ataca justitia, ordonandu-i sa intre in legalitate; propun sa se inceapa cu dosarele lui ce stau prafuite prin arhive.
- Nati Meir isi bune toate sperantele in manele lui Adrian Copilul Minune si spera ca trilurile acestuia si zambetul Monicai Columbeanu sa-l propulseze direct la Cotroceni
- de la PSD vin regrete pentru implicarea Romaniei in Irak, alaturi de SUA
- PNL-ul, ca intotdeauna se limiteaza la declaratii impotriva lui Basescu, puerile si prost intocmite, dar.. poate poate poate mai pescuiesc si ei ceva voturi
Asadar, totul se mentine in parametri normali pentru Romania, in paralel politicieni infloresc pe internet, isi trag conturi pe retelele sociale, participa la discutii cu alegatorii si se bat pentru titlul de cel mai popular idiot.

Pe plan personal… astept cu nerabdare sa imbatranesc cu un an, ma bucur de putinele momente linistite cand nu imi bat capul cu treburi de serviciu in care pot sta linistita acasa cu Daisy si iubitul meu, astept iarna sa scap de caldura din apartament.. ieri Daisy a reusit sa inchida usa dupa noi si sa ne lase blocati pe afara. Colac peste pupaza.. s-a rupt si cheia in usa.. se pare ca hotii au putut sa intre mult mai usor in casa, noi a trebuit sa stam pe pres.
Cat despre lipsa mea de pe blog se datoreaza in mare parte lipsei de timp si intr-o mica partei lipsei de interes ce m-a cuprins in ultimul timp referitor la a-mi etala talentele de bloggerita cu impresii.
Pana data viitoare, supravietuire usoara.
